SPLENDID PERFORMANCE OF JUNIOR INDIAN SHUTTLERS

VIKTOR AXELSEN ENTERS FINALS

 A day to go for "The FINALS" Last evening was a blast. All the semi finals were very well played and today all the finals would be played. VIKTOR Axelsen of Denmark and NG KA LONG Angus of  Hong Kong would play the men's singles final. Women's singles final would be played between TAI TZU Ying of Chinese Taipei and Carolina MARIN of Spain.  Wh ereas in men's doubles the Malaysian pair GOH  V Shem/ TAN Wee Kiong would play against the Chinese Taipei pair LEE Yang/ WANG Chi Lin.  Women's doubles final would be played between Jongkolphan and Rawinda of Thailand versus Greysia and Apriyani of Indonesia. The Thailand pair would play against the Indonesian pair in The Mixed Doubles Finals. The Indian team did not perform too well. Saina, Srikanth and the men's doubles pair consisting of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/ Chirag Shetty managed to reach to the Quarter finals but could not go further. Team Japan Withdraws

Team Japan Withdraws On Sunday 3rd January, Kento Momota of Japan was tested positive in the mandatory PCR test at Narita Airport in Tokyo. The Japanese Team was due to fly Bangkok. Due to this mishap the Japanese team withdrawal out its player from all the events including singles and doubles. New Year, New Spirit

First Tournament for the Indian Team   The Indian Badminton Team including Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth left for Thailand on 3rd January 2020, Sunday. This would be the first tournament for everyone almost after 10 months of pandemic situation.  P V Sindhu would fly from London to Bangkok to join the team there. Match fixing.... Not a good idea!!! Russian men's doubles badminton player  Nikita Khakimov is banned for 5 years accused for betting, match fixing and other irrelevant means of play. BWF started their enquiry in 2018 and finally found him guilty on 23rd Dec 2020. Nikita Khakimov was a part of Russian Men's team that won bronze medal at European team championship 2020. riju patidar badmintonsportify
