First contested in 1989, the Sudirman Cup is a world mixed team badminton championship. Each tie consists of up to five matches: men and women’s singles, men and women’s doubles and mixed doubles. China has won 11 of the 16 editions of the competition.

China have dominated this tournament since the 1980s, appearing in every final since 1984 and only failing to win on three occasions – 1978 and 1981 (to Indonesia) and 2010 (to South Korea). In 2016, they defeated South Korea for the seventh time in the Uber Cup Final.
