The Taipei Open was inaugurated in 1980, quickly becoming a staple in the Asian badminton calendar. In 2012, it was rebranded as the Yonex Taipei Open when Yonex, one of badminton’s premier equipment manufacturers, came on board as the title sponsor. Since then, it has grown in prestige and prize money, regularly featuring top-20 players from around the globe.

The tournament is classified as a BWF World Tour Super 300 event, offering ranking points and acting as a gateway for players looking to break into the sport’s elite tier.
